William H Easton Military Pension FIles Summary, Certificate # 71940
William H Easton was born Jan 18, 1847 at Manchester, Washtenaw Co, MI in Co
B, 17th MI Vol. He was enrolled 12 Aug 1862 at Manchester, MI. On 29 June
1865 he mustered out with 27 Co 2nd Batt to which he was transfered Dec 1,
1863. Another paper said he was transfered Oct 17, 1864. His residences
after discharge were Manchester 1867-1868; Ionia 1868-1870; Central lake
1870 and on. He recieve a pension from Detroit for $12 per month starting 31
Oct 1876, the pension being for the loss of three toes on each foot having
to be amputated due to frostbite. He was taken sick at the camp near
Falmouth abt 14 Dec 1863 with Lyphus Fever, and both feet badly frozen, and
6 toes were amputated.
He was married Twice:
#1Minerva S. Mabie on 28 May 1871, she died Sep 17 (or 14), 1901. Marriage
was at Palo, MI by Elder Munger, recorded in Montcalm Co, MI.
#2 was to Nettie Edmonds Beach widow of Guy Beach (m.Sep 11, 1888, d. Nov
20, 1902 at Orleans, MI) on June 14, 1904 by Martin L. Fox pastor of ME
Church at Ionia MI. He was 57, she was 41. Death certificate for Guy Beach,
#5647, d. at Orleans Twp, Ionia Co, age 39.7.24 from appendicitus, farmer,
parents: James Beach , Ohio, Mary Bement, NY.
His death certificate included Record 97, Antrim Co, William H Easton,b. MI,
d. at Central Lake MI on Jul 26 1916, son of enos Easton & Catherine Warner,
both born NY. Age 69.6.8.
He was a Liveryman.
He was 5' 11", light complected, blue eyes and light hair, and a farmer when
he enlisted.
Only child listed was Charles W. Easton, b. May 26, 1874.

I got the pension for my William H Easton. I sent the Archives a pic of his
tombstone, and his 2 wifes names. Got back Lots of papers, Marriages for
both wives.
He enlisted Manchchester MI,12 aug 1962, Co B 17th MI Vol., Disch Washington
DC 29 June 1865. Residence was Brooklyn MI 1865-1867, Manchester 1867-1868,
Ionia 1868-1870, Central Lake MI, 1870 and on.
There's a bunch of other stuff, one paper said he was mustered out 29 Jun
1865 with 27 Co 2nd Batt to which he was transfered Dec 1, 1863 He was b.
Jan 18, 1847, Manchester MI, d. 26 jul 1916, Central Lake MI.
He's Buried in Southern Cemetery.
He was discharged due to having frozen toes, and 3 on each foot having to be
ampuated.
