Russell Family Cemetery

The Russell Family Cemetery sets alone quietly along US-31 nestled today amongst the overgrown lilac bushes as an ever reminder of the large Russell Family of yesterday who in 1864 arrived in Antrim County. Although it is believed about 25 people are buried in the Russell Cemetery, only 4 graves have headstones.

William Russell Sr. (Father) born 1811 died 1875

Anna Russell (Mother) born 1814 died 1886

Lucy Ann Russell Duffell born 1844 died 1887
Monument says "Mother's Grave" - daughter of William and Anna Russell

Barbara Russell born June 28, 1880 died October 20, 1880
Baby of Thomas and Addie (Filer) Russell

Years ago the Family Bible was where records of births, marriages and deaths were kept. In September 6, 1932, Mrs. John Russell was interviewed and it was reported that she stated the Family Bible was lost in the fire of the Homestead House. The Russell Cemetery records of the unmarked graves given in 1932 by Mrs. John Russell are:

Three Children of Lorenzo R. and Hannah Russell Bullock

Two Children of Jesse and Nellie Russell Clancy

One child of George Burley

William Duffell born 1834 died March 30, 1908

Charles Edwin Duffell born June 9, 1868 died March 8, 1906
