Beautiful Blue Kauai - The Garden Isle The adventure continues...!
I love photographing flowers - and when I saw this Bird of Paradise I had a feeling it would be a great photo. I thought it turned out rather well...! (Guess I should go back and crop the image - will have to do that later!)
If we weren't the coolest couple on the island of Kauai no one was! Tony models our sleek little Chrysler Sebring convertible.
This is Kilohana Plantation, once the home of Gaylord Parke Wilcox, one of Kauai's sugar plantation growers. It was built in 1935 and was one of the most expensive and most beautiful homes ever built on Kauai. The home and grounds are open to the public, and it houses one of the finest restaurants on Kauai, Gaylords. It is an open air restaurant and Tony and I enjoyed our last meal on Kauai at Gaylords - what a great final memory!
What's Hawaii without it's famous beaches? This is P'oipu Beach on the south shore of Kauai. It is from this area we set sail on the catamaran Blue Dolphin for an evening whale watch and cruise - no, we didn't see any whales but did see several large sea turtles and lots of Japanese tourists suffering - sea sickness - ... that was an adventure in itself!
Not so far to the west of P'oipu Beach at Lawai Bay is Spouting Horn. Waves force air out of an opening in an old lava tube and creates a strange groan sound while spray is forced out of another opening close by. Its very dramatic! From Spouting Horn lookout, look west to beautiful Lawai Bay - ( see photo below ) .
